SUMARIO DEL PROYECTO

    PROtotype TExt Understanding System es un sistema de procesamiento del lenguaje natural desarrollado desde 1986 en el Dept. de Informática de la Universidad de Nueva York, bajo la dirección del Prof. Ralph Grishman. Su objetivo es desarrollar un sistema completo de análisis de textos que pueda ser utilizado en diferentes aplicaciones (extracción de información y traducción automática han sido los campos explorados). Hasta el momento, el sistema ha sido aplicado al inglés, al español y al japonés . Está basado en la teoría lingüística de Z. Harris y el Linguistic String Project de N. Sager. La versión española ha sido y sigue siendo desarrollada por Antonio Moreno y Cristina Olmeda.

PROJECT SUMMARY

    PROtotype TExt Understanding System is a natural language processing system developed starting in 1986 in the Computer Science Department of New York University, under the direction of Prof. Raph Grishman. Its objective is to develop a complete system for text analysis which can be used in various applications; information retrieval and machine translation have been explored so far. At this point, the system has been applied to English, Spanish, and Japanese. It is based on the linguistic theories of Z. Harris and the guistic String Project of N. Sager. The Spanish version has been and continues to be developed by Antonio Moreno and Cristina Olmeda.
